Who we are
We are Fancy Tapes. We started out in 2008 and sell a wide variety of tapes - ranging from shiny decorative patterns to industrial-strength safety tapes. Fancy Tapes is a trading name of Lumen Services Limited. Lumen Services Limited is a company registered in England and Wales, Company No. 3640113.
First and foremost, we’re in the business of selling tape. We don’t sell or share your details with other businesses for marketing purposes. We hate spam, junk mail and telemarketing calls just as much as you do and we want no part of that. What happens in Fancy Tapes, stays in Fancy Tapes.
What information we collect
The main information that we collect about you is the all the details that you enter into the order form when you buy something from us. We keep track of what you have in your order, your billing and delivery addresses. We need to do this so that we can pack, ship and collect payment for your order.
If you are logged in to the web site, we also connect up your order history so that you can easily see what you’ve ordered in the past, and reorder things that you want again. We also keep track of things in your basket so that if you get sidetracked, you can easily come back later and finish your order at another time.
If you enter other information into the web site, such as leaving a review, or adding things to a wish list, we also store that.
If you fill in the contact form on our web site, or email us with questions, we keep a copy of those messages so that we can be sure we’re responding with helpful and useful information.
What we don’t collect
We do not collect any payment information. All payment processing is handled by a third-party (Paypal) and any card numbers you enter are dealt with by the payment provider directly. They are never sent to us and are never received by our server - all we get to hear is whether the payment was authorised or rejected.
Cookies are an integral part of the modern internet, and just like almost every other web site out there, our web site makes use of them. There are a bunch of different types of cookies and we use them for a variety of things.
Whenever you browse through pages on our web site, we need to keep track of various things that you do. For example, if you add something to your basket, we need to remember that, so when you come back to look at it, your basket still contains the things that you expect to see there.
We use a third-party service (Google Analytics) to collect a standard set of information about how people are using our web site. This allows us to better understand things like what kinds of products people are most interested in and the kinds of things they are looking for. With this information, we can more effectively plan what to sell in the future, and so hopefully end up with happier customers who can then readily get hold of the things that they most want. This information is processed in a way that does not identify anyone - we never send any of your personal data to Google.
We all get far too much email, and we have no desire to clutter up your inbox unnecessarily. There are, however, a few things that we need to notify you about.
We will use the email address you enter into our system to keep you notified of the progress of your order. We’ll let you know that we’ve received the order, and also when it has shipped. If there are any problems with your order, or questions we need to ask, we’ll email you about those too.
There may be occasions when we need to send you important information about your account. If you forget your password, for example, you can request an email that will allow you to reset it.
We do not send general marketing emails to our customers, other than to those who have signed up to our mailing list and explicitly requested to receive these emails.
We have a mailing list that people can sign up to. We use this list to tell people about things that we think might interest them, such as new products or promotions and special offers. This mailing list is strictly opt-in only. To get on the list, you must explicitly sign up and agree to receive these emails. You can always unsubscribe at any time - either click on the link at the bottom of any email that you receive from the list, or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting that you be removed and we’ll sort it out for you.
Who we share your data with
We only share your data where it’s absolutely necessary.
When you buy something from us, we need to send some information about your order to our payment provider (Paypal). This allows them to charge you the appropriate amount as payment for your order.
Once you have placed an order, we then have to send it to you. To do this, we need to share some details with whoever we pass your parcel onto for delivery - typically, this is either Royal Mail or a courier such as DPD or UPS. We have to tell them the delivery address and sometimes other contact information such as your email address or telephone number.
If we are ever legally required to share your data, for example as part of a police investigation, then we must comply with all such legal and legitimate requests. In general, we recommend not using our tapes when committing a crime, and then we can all hopefully avoid that sort of messy situation.
Access to your data
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. If you would like to do any of this, please email our support team at email@example.com.
